                              clearinghouse, has updated its series of fact sheets 
                              on HIV and Pregnancy to reflect the latest research 
                              data and expert opinion included in current antiretroviral 
                              therapy (ART) guidelines for maternal health and 
                              prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission. |  |  |

                   The 
                    fact sheets provide information intended especially for HIV-infected 
                    women who are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, 
                    according to a recent AIDSinfo announcement.

                  All 
                    fact sheets in the series (formerly titled "HIV During 
                    Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery, and After Birth") were 
                    reviewed and updated based on the latest information in the 
                    May 24, 2010 version of the DHHS Perinatal HIV Guidelines, 
                    Recommendations 
                    for Use of Antiretroviral Drugs in Pregnant HIV-1-Infected 
                    Women for Maternal Health and Interventions to Reduce Perinatal 
                    HIV Transmission in the United States.
                  Changes 
                    in the revised fact sheets include a new sheet on "Mother-to-Child 
                    Transmission of HIV" and additional information on the 
                    safety of anti-HIV medications taken during pregnancy.
